Where the Sphinx is
The Great Sphinx sits at the eastern edge of the Giza plateau, in front of the pyramid of Khafre, next to the Valley Temple. It faces east toward the rising sun.
What to see
From the viewing terrace you see the Sphinx head-on with the pyramids behind, the perfect photo. The neighbouring Valley Temple shows the massive granite blocks used in the pharaonic building works.

Yes. The standard Giza plateau ticket includes the area around the Great Sphinx and the adjacent Valley Temple. Most guided tours bring you to the Sphinx viewpoint.
You can walk to a viewing terrace right in front of the Sphinx and the Valley Temple, but you cannot touch or climb it. The viewpoint gives you the classic head-on photo with the pyramids behind.
The Sphinx is about 73 metres long and 20 metres high, carved from a single ridge of limestone. It is one of the largest and oldest monumental sculptures in the world.
